Our Lady’s Abingdon – 150 Years of Care and High Standards

For over 150 years Our Lady’s Abingdon has had a reputation for high academic standards and excellent pastoral care. They are proud of their distinctive family atmosphere, which fosters a real sense of community and happy relationships between staff and pupils. The inclusive spirit means that boys and girls of every faith and none are welcomed. OLA aims to develop the individual talents of each pupil, every child being seen as a unique person with gifts to be recognised, valued and nurtured.

At OLA, pupils have a positive and purposeful approach to learning. Teachers inspire them to develop their talents, behaviour is excellent and the small class sizes enable teachers to challenge and support according to individual need. Pupils are encouraged to have high aspirations, develop a strong sense of belonging and are expected to contribute fully to school life and participate in the wide range of enrichment opportunities on offer. This means that they leave OLA as well-rounded, confident and well-qualified young people, ready to face the challenges of the adult world.

Our Lady's AbingdonOLA Junior School, educating boys and girls from the age of three, is located on the same site as the Senior School and shares many of its facilities. Pupils progress in a warm, safe environment, enabling them to develop socially and achieve their best academically. Many children move on to the Senior School at the age of eleven, while others are prepared for entry to a range of independent schools in the Oxfordshire area. Stephen Oliver’s, (Principal at OLA) own children have now spent six years in the school and all three have had a happy, fulfilling time in the care of outstanding teachers.

Our Lady’s Abingdon is a school where success is celebrated, whether this is academic, sporting or in the creative arts. Pupils encourage each other and take pleasure in one another’s achievements. They are small enough for everyone to be valued but large enough to offer a wide and challenging curriculum. Their Value Added results are some of the best in Oxfordshire, with the Sixth Form ranked in the top 15% of schools in England for academic progress. Students go on to a range of prestigious institutions, including Oxford, Cambridge and Russell Group universities.
